Introduction to Studio Strobes

Greenwich - 11am - 3 Hours

Introduction to Studio Strobes A hands-on class covering the fundamentals of studio lighting. We'll explore flash duration, recycle time, watt seconds, color temperature, radio remotes, TTL, incident light metering, modifiers, and speed rings. Learn how to choose the right strobes and use them effectively for portraits, still life, and more. Bring your camera and a notebook.

Studio Strobe prices have become very reasonably priced lately and strobes are indispensable for small aperture photography, balancing sunlight or freezing movement. It's important that photographers understand and choose the strobes which best match their needs. Especially at entry level price points, none of these devices do everything equally well.

Smoky Mountain TwilightThere?s nothing quite like the twilight hour in the Great Smoky Mountains. I?ve called Tennessee home since before I could walk, and this state?s wild places ? the Smokies especially ? have shaped my deepest love for the outdoors. With this piece, I wanted to bring together all the elements that make dusk in these mountains so unforgettable ? the iconic purple haze rolling over endless ridge lines, glowing sunset hues, quiet wildlife, and the magical flicker of synchro

I typically paint landscapes. Every now and then, I try something a little different. I saw an oil painting of this dancer on line. I was curious how it would turn out as a watercolor.

This tugboat came out of a Miami work trip. I was staying downtown. On a morning walk I crossed a bridge that lifts when big boats come through, and it?s lowkey terrifying to be that close to it when it starts rising and everything shifts underneath you. I liked the cut of the tugboat?s jib, the way it moved through all that space like it knew exactly where it was going. What stayed with me wasn?t just the boat, but the deep green of the water, the white churn of the wake, and those smal

My late husband, Mike Tuten, was an excellent watercolor painter. He passed of an extremely aggressive rare form of cancer and 2020. Since he passed I have attempted to emulate some of his paintings. He was a fantastic artist and teacher. I?m also currently in the process of finishing some watercolor paintings he started and didn?t get the chance to finish. It?s a fun and cathartic challenge to honor my eternal love.
